HealthMe is a platform that enables you to care for direct-pay patients, a growing segment of the healthcare market. We enable you to bundle your services, list your prices, and accept payments for those services seamlessly – all from your practice’s website. Patients pay for your services in advance with HealthMe, and once a patient is seen and treated a redemption code triggers payment into your bank account via ACH in less than 72 hours.

What is HealthMe?

HealthMe is a digital platform that gives medical practices a simple solution to serve direct-pay patients. Founded and developed by doctors, HealthMe gives practices the tools and training to list and price their services on a consumer-friendly portal. Patients pay in advance for services purchased through your digital marketplace and our transparent pricing approach drives patient satisfaction.

How does HealthMe help my practice?

HealthMe helps medical practices create, price, and transact transparently-priced bundled healthcare packages. Patients know their total cost in advance of treatment and pre-pay for your services. Your practice is paid for services electronically within 72 hours of treating the patient with no paperwork needed. Because patients pre-pay for services, HealthMe dramatically reduces no-show rates for medical practices.

Why should my practice use HealthMe?

Most practices are unequipped to serve direct-pay patients and more than 90% of practices currently turn away direct-pay patients because they don’t have a process to accommodate them. HealthMe grows revenue for practices seamlessly, guarantees payment for services, and dramatically reduces no-show rates of direct-pay patients.

How much does HealthMe cost?

HealthMe is completely free for practices to use. No implementation fees. No monthly subscriptions. No hidden fees. Instead HealthMe charges a technology services fee to patients.

Is it easy to get started?

Yes, getting started is easy and begins with a call with a dedicated HealthMe representative. Depending on the size of your practice, you can be live in as little as 2 weeks from start to finish.

Is it easy for my office staff?

What if a patient asks for a refund?

We understand that patients may from time to time require a refund for a package they purchased with HealthMe. Our policy is to provide the full refund of the purchase price if appointments are cancelled at least 2 business days before your scheduled visit the healthcare provider. If the cancellation is made within 2 business days of the appointment, the purchase price will no longer be refundable; however the appointment may be rescheduled one time at such time as agreed between the patient and the provider. Is my data secure?

Yes, your data with HealthMe is secure. We place a great importance on securing both provider and patient data. Our payment processor is a division of PayPal and has extremely secure banking level data protection in place. All credit card transactions are processed using a bank-level, validated Level 1 PCI DSS compliant service provider, creating a secure checkout experience. We do not collect or store protected health information.

Who are direct-pay patients?

Direct-pay patients represent self-insured business owners, young “healthy” patients, medical tourists, uninsured patients, out of network patients, and patients from faith-based sharing ministries. Many patients with HSAs and HDHPs also are direct-pay patients in certain circumstances. See our blog for more details about direct-pay patients.

Can in-network patients participate?

Yes, patients with private insurance may be able to participate subject to the terms of their individual contracts, your practice’s contracts, and applicable state laws. Fees for services rendered in a Medical Care Package will not be paid by insurance companies, but patients may be able to use waivers to opt out of their business benefits (permissable in Florida) and some insurers may credit the patient’s payments toward their deductibles though they generally are not obligated to do so. If an insured patient requests to pay directly for services, your HealthMe account representative can provide you with a waiver to have the patient sign to opt out of insurance.

Can Medicare patients use Healthme?

No, patients who are beneficiaries of government programs are not eligible for participation. If a beneficiary of a government program or an in-network patient inadvertently purchases a self-pay package, HealthMe will provide the patient with a full refund, and the provider can bill the patient’s insurance through their typical process.

What is a healthcare package?

We’ve created patient-centric healthcare packages that represent common diagnoses and treatment plans for each specialty using transparent pricing. These healthcare packages allow patients to better understand exactly what their doctor’s visit costs and includes. These packages are based on best practice guidelines leading to quality healthcare at a fair price. Providers can choose their own price for these packages that appear on their healthcare marketplace. Our healthcare packages generally include a visit with the doctor and simple diagnostic studies that are often ordered in the workup of that condition such as basic diagnostic testing like labs, EKG, x-rays. We also offer ancillary services such as labs, MRI, physical therapy as well as outpatient surgical procedures.

Do I need to provide all package services?

Yes. Our goal is to give patients a bundled care plan that includes a visit with the provider and basic testing and procedures to treat that condition.

Can I make my own custom packages?

We do not currently support custom packages.

How do I get paid?

Patients are emailed a redemption code at the time of purchasing care through HealthMe’s portal. When they arrive for their scheduled appointment they will present the redemption code and you and/or your staff can redeem the code in your HealthMe account. You’re paid electronically via ACH payment within 72 hours of redeeming the code.

How does it work?

Most commonly, your doctor has directed you to our website or our portal on their website to purchase the care package you need. You can search by symptom, by location, and by provider. Once you find the package with your doctor, you can simply purchase the package. We’ll send you an email with a unique redemption code. When you arrive at your doctor’s appointment, present them the redemption code and receive your treatment. It’s as simple as that.

Can the money I spend on HealthMe be applied to my insurance deductible?

Insurers may apply the money spent on HealthMe towards your deductible but you will need to check with your insurance company to verify this. There are many insurance companies with multiple plans whose benefits are constantly changing.

Can I use my Medicare/Medicaid?

Patients who are beneficiaries of government programs are not eligible for participation. If you are a beneficiary of a government program or an in-network patient and inadvertently purchased a self-pay package, HealthMe will provide you with a full refund. Am I charged a fee for using HealthMe?

Yes, we charge a technology fee for using HealthMe. The fee has already been added to the price you see when shopping for packages on HealthMe. This fee funds the operation of the platform, and also covers credit card processing fees.

Are there any surprise costs?

Yes, the packages will include all fees for what is described in the package as well as HealthMe’s technology fee. You will not see any additional fees – just the single package price.

How do I schedule an appointment?

Once you’ve purchased a package with the doctor of your choosing, you will need to contact that doctor’s office to schedule your appointment. In many cases, the doctor’s office may contact you first. If you need any assistance, you can contact our customer support team at support@healthmedocs.com

What payment methods do you accept?

For your convenience, we accept all major credit cards.

How do I purchase a package?

Purchasing a package is very similar to any online shopping experience. You can purchase a package on the main HealthMe site or from a portal on your doctor’s website. You can discover packages either by searching for your doctor, their office name, or by searching by pain symptom (e.g. knee pain). Once you’ve identified the doctor and package, you’ll simply select “purchase” and go through a simple checkout process.

What is a redemption code?

A redemption code is a unique code that we email to you after you purchase a package. The redemption code is a string of 7 characters. When you arrive at your doctor’s appointment, you present the staff your redemption code so that they can look up your information and package details.

How do I use my redemption code?

When you arrive at your scheduled appointment, you will simply need to provide your unique redemption code to the office staff so that they can mark that you arrived for your appointment.

Can I get a refund?

We understand that patients may from time to time require a refund for a package they purchased with HealthMe. HealthMe for Employers

Is HealthMe a healthcare alternative for small businesses?

Many small business owners or self-employed individuals use HealthMe as a healthcare alternative. These businesses may have Health Savings Accounts or High Deductible Health Plans and will use HealthMe to purchase care that may not reach their deductible limits.

Does HealthMe cost anything for employers to use?

HealthMe is completely free for employers to use. When purchasing a package, there is a HealthMe technology fee in the listed package price, but there are no other fees associated with using HealthMe.

Does HealthMe make shopping for healthcare easy for my employees?

Yes, shopping for healthcare with HealthMe is as easy as shopping for anything else online.

Can HealthMe help municipalities?

How do HealthMe prices compare to insurance prices?

Because providers list cash prices with HealthMe, healthcare prices on our platform are often much lower than insurance prices. HealthMe removes bureaucratic burdens for employers to collect payment and so providers are put in a position to offer discounted rates for their care.
